Problem with urine retention, for two weeks now, PLEASE HELP

i'm a male, 24 years old. i had what was believed to be a tract infection several years ago, but it wasn't known for sure, however, i guess it was only a presumed diagnosis due to some structural pain i was having in my lower mid-section, which eventually went away.

anyways, about 2 weeks, i made the mistake of holding my urine (for about 30-40 minutes) until it went back up into my system. from my recollection, i might've done it about twice in two days. it happened on rare occasions in the past, but nothing bad happened afterwards. i just relieved myself when i had to go again. (in weeks prior to my current state, i would get heartburn-like symptoms if i held my urine for a little too long, nothing past 5 minutes though, but eventually i would relieve myself) however, this time, ever since then, i constantly feel pain and pressure in my bladder. i've had to urinate about every 2-3 hours, and only a little bit comes out, but i still feel like i have alot of urine left in my bladder afterwards, as though not all of it is coming out, and my bladder (or sphincter?) doesn't feel like it has the strength to push it all out. no burning or anything like that during urination, though.

i went to a doctor, and they tested my urine. they said it was an infection, so they prescribed me antibiotics. i had to go back a few days later, because it was unbearable. they tested my urine again, and said my kidneys were fine. they drained my bladder through a catheter (which hurt), and virtually all the pain and pressure went away. i went back the next day, and they said the infection was basically gone, and to come back when i finished my antibiotics. but after only a day, the pain and pressure came back, and i again have to urinate constantly, with only small amounts coming out. when i sleep, my urine is retained longer than when i'm awake, and when i wake up, i'm in immense pain, but again, i can only urinate a little bit. due to all the pain, i've been forced to take tylenol regularly.

the closest thing i can come up with is this: http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Urology/Fear-of-injury-to-the-bladder-because-of-holding-urine-too-long/show/913310

i've tried to set a schedule of urinating every 2-3 hours, to try and maybe adjust my bladder to normal strength, but it doesn't seem to have made much of any difference (especially after sleeping, which seems to get the schedule out of whack again). am i going to be ok? did i damage my bladder? is it stretched? or inflamed? what are the remedies to this? should i continue with the urinating schedule? should i adjust my sleeping? should i wake up regularly to urinate? should i drink a lot fluids, even if i might retain more in my bladder? should i stay in bed, move around more, or just sit up? can anyone help? unfortunately, i'm not able to see a urologist for a while.

please, and thank you.

But don’t worry, your bladder is fine and you will be okay.

I have the same problem, but it happens every once in a while and only lasts for a day or two. I recommend drinking more water than usual, and also eat a steady diet of fruits as the vitamins can help with the processing of urinal waste through the kidneys. My problem hasn’t gone away, but it has lessened
