I would recommend to get a second opinion (other cytologist to look on slides).
The amount of colloid is critical factor to differentiate between neoplasm and colloid nodule as well as the arrangement/structure of follicular cells found in specime
No bruising. Just got my results.....suspicious for follicular neoplasm, so they don't know! I will now go see the ENT surgeons to have the left lobe of my thyroid removed to find out what it is.
The number of sticks depends if enough material is collected (sometimes only blood or colloid comes out). The ultrasound is used to avoid hitting blood vessel (which can sometimes alter the sample by changing amount of colloid in it), or major structures.
Do you have a bruise now?
As for easing anxiety, I would recommend:
Eating banana (I am serious, it contains "natural happy drug")
Watching British comedies of your choice on YouTube (you gonna be laughing like crazy)!
