As far as my personal opinion, I don't know abut the actual rawness/pain factor but I have a very sneaky suspicion that the physical/emotional *stress* factor tends to exacberate autoimmune issues from going through all that you are going thru let alone the chemical reactions, etc., etc. But I'm just a thyroid person like yourself and base it on my own experience of passing a kidney stone 12 days post op thyroid surgery even though they had an IV in me the WHOLE TIME so cannot blame dehydration, and then 12hrs post op my secondary incision 6 weeks later to remove an infected cyst but there was so much stress because they didn't know if it was a Lipoma (cancer) at the time and was 1/4" above the thyroid incision .. 12hrs home and passed another kidney stone!!!
My daughter who had GB surgery 3 weeks ago is to be followed up with her GI on Feb 11 bcz upon admittance her CT Scan showed ilieum wall thickening that obliterated the appendix ?? They need to followup on it to r/o Crohn's, IBD, EE Gastroenteritis, etc., etc. but so far the blood work doesn't indicate it but they don't know. They are *hoping* it is just one of those things that appeared bcz she was so ill with the GB and it took 5 days to diagnose it was her GB and not the intestines causing her to be admitted bcz at the time she orig. had pain on the inflammed spot. Bottom line after surgery is that she is 95% symtpom free, no more reflux but left with constipation that they *think* is surgery related but need comprehensive GI workup to r/o the big stuff .. ?? scopes ?? she is only 17 and the GB was only functioning 5% and had anomolies since birth as well as chronic inflammation according to the biopsy report. They admitted her thinking it was Appendix at first. she has history of reactive arthritis and other inflammatory responses to her joints since age 10 but fully resolved.
She is severely allergic to latex, plums, nuts. Let's hope no EEO's are involved.
How did you get diagnosed?
