IgM repeatedly + IgG repeatedly -

Hello,
I have been married 16 years with Herpes positive husband.  We are careful and I still don't think I have contracted herpes.  I get tested occasionally, twice now I come back IgM positive  but IgG negative (3 months apart).  Is it possible that I have a different virus like Epstein Barr or Mono or some other condition?  Does a repeatedly positive IgM signal a sign of concern?  I realize the IgG is the real test, but I am curious why I have IgM anitibodies.

Thank you for any information!

Its a total waste of blood sample.  At a guess, I'd say its accurate rarely.  I know mine was negative when it should have been positive, and positive when it should have been negative.

I tested twice in one year because the IgM came back positive so they expected the IgG to turn positive and told me to come back in 3 months.  I guess I was just worried that twice it come back positive-- as if it is indicating something???  It's either a false positive... or it is reading an antibody of one kind or another.  I wish I knew what/which.  Have you ever heard of positive IgMs leading to something or is it a total waste of blood sample.
Thanks for your responses!

I agree totally.  The IgM is unreliable, and there aren't always answers as to why its giving someone a false reading.

You should stop having the IgM done.  Its not even relevant for you anyway.

Why are you testing so often?  Once a year should be fine.
