Check your yellow pages - there really are a lot of them.  When you have a problem it can take 3 to 4 visits over a few weeks to get relief.  Sometimes I get relief from first one (had really bad shoulder and neck pain and instantaneous relief).  I have gone for that, for colds (really helps), go once a month to help immune system, for my cyst pain, back pain, etc.  I really like their approach and I don't find it uncomfortable but quite relaxing.  I highly recommend it but do check out the provider to ensure they are licensed and that you feel comfortable with them.

I've been so tempted to visit an acupuncturist but never really talked to anyone that had any kind of experience with one. How often do you go? And I guess you're pleased?
Course, I don't know where I might even find one in my area.. (S. Central Fl.)

It is amazing how they are finding links to different things.  I had ulcerative colitis for 10 years and than had an operation to remove my colon and rebuild a pouch out of my small intestine that gives me back function.  I found a study where women who have had this operation are more likely to have large ovarian cysts.  I was shocked.  There is so much about the human body that medicine does not yet know.  Everything is so connected.  I visit an acupuncturist and am so surprised at how Chinese medicine really works with these connections.

Great.... Just what I get for not editing. The first sentence did not make sense. Oh well...it is late and that is my only excuse :) But, you all get the gist of what I was saying.

Hi,

I might be able to help. I believe there is a connection and that connection (in my opinion) is hormonaly.

Over the past 8 years since I have been studying this issue, I have run across information that indicate that hormonal imbalances can be behind all of this (gosh, I didn't mean for that to sound sinister!). But, one theory as to why I had all of the problems I had before the hysterctomy (Severe Cervical Dysplasia and then a Dx. of malignant cells found in a cyst that was drained during a laporoscopy) was that Estrogen Dominance was to blame.

Since then, as I attempt (Constantly) to stay balanced hormonally using bioidentical hormones, when I am too low in Progesterone (not progestin, the synthetic) then my Cholesterol goes up. I typically have had very good readings Cholesterol-wise, so I always look at the Cholesterol reading as a likely symptom if I think my Progesterone ratio to Bio Estrogen (via Vivelle Patch) is off. When things are running smoothly my Readings are high numbers-wise, but ONLY because my GOOD cholesterol is so sky high. So, they always look at the ratio of good cholesterol vs. bad in my case.

I have over a thousand posts if you want to sift through. It has been awhile since I have written posts on hormones, but all of the details are there.... also, I listed books in my profile that have been very helpful to me.

Sincerely,

Mary
