Measurement?

I went for my U/S and TVUS this morning.  I don't have the results yet, of course, but did manage to sneak a peek of the screen when the tech left the room.  The first time she left, I saw "7.0 cm" in the bottom corner.  This was a measurement from the TVUS, as she had just finished.  She then came back in, mentioned something about taking more measurements due to the "physics" of something or another, and looked via U/S.  This time, when she left, the bottom corner measurement read "11.5 cm."  Both numbers make me a bit nervous - especially since the CT scan which picked up the cystic lesion just 3 weeks ago read 4.9 cm.  And, just a side note....can I say PAINFUL?!?  The TVUS was painful.

I did ask the tech if she could give me any information and she said "all information has to come from your doctor,"  which I'm sure is standard operating procedure.  She said it takes 2-3 working days before the doctor will have the results. AM I RIGHT IN THINKING IF IT WERE ANYTHING TO WORRY ABOUT I WOULD GET NOTIFICATION MUCH SOONER?  I have to put this out of my mind until AT LEAST Monday!!!!!!!!!!!  Ugh!!!!!!  Again, I'm sure it's nothing, but it would be nice if they could tell you that to relieve fear instead of making you sweat it out.  I'm not good at playing waiting games.

Any feedback or commentary is greatly appreciated!

Dear Shari,

You're right - perhaps calling will alleve my stress about the situation.  Why can't the radiologist just come in with the tech and tell the patient what he/she sees????  It would relieve so much, in most cases - UNNEEDED -  stress!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Thanks for the reply - I needed that.

May I just suggest that perhaps you give your doctor's office a call, tomorrow, and let them know how anxious you are about the results. Maybe, they can at least get you some preliminary results just to put your mind at ease. Tell them what you saw, during the test, and they'll understand your concern.

I have to agree with you....a TVUS can be painful. I think a lot depends on how good the technician is. I've received both painful and non-painful TVUS's.

Good luck with everything, and let us know how you are doing.

Hugs,
Shari
