fracture

hello. my name is jael and im from israel.
I born with spina bifida.
5 weeks ago I was came to the hospital with Fever, pain and internal bleeding on my Foot. Ortho doc was faund by X-RAY that I had fifth metatarsal fracture (shaft)  immediately I vas get in to a Surgery.. A week after the surgery the Dr who operated me send me home, with no Fixation (or cast)
My question to you, dear Dr. :  the doctor who operated me told me that I can try to set foot
Is that ok? I feel I can du that, but should I let the bone healing?
When can I start to walk / drive? Plz tell me, what should I do for best care to my foot

if u remember i had spina bifida - neurologic level L4 LT. S2 RT
im using in wheelchair, but not Riveted. usually im walk, drive..
at the past one year i had open wound at my leg - metatarsal 3-4 finger
i had a Bone reconstruction surgery: weil osteotomy, planter plate repair, douvris+flexor to extensor transfer, extensor elongation
i han now Kirschner wire in finger 4+3
After they remove the KW - How do I know if there is a Damaged at some nerve?
i had no really great sensation
i'm really scared.. to do not be able to be Independent, not to be able to walk and drive.. again. it's my biggest fear

Hi!
I am not sure why no cast or brace was applied. Even after surgery a brace is given to stabilize the foot. You should initially start walking with crutches and then put weight on the foot after 3-4 weeks. Specially designed braces and boots are available. Please re-discuss this with your doctor. Take care!
