if the dentist pocked him self before
the injection and never changed it
is their a possible risk for HIV?
just an idea that's sticking with me.
Do you know if there is any up to date stats on how long HIV stays active in a syringe? or needle tip?
Hi there. So the way an IV drug user passes on the HIV virus to another drug user is becasue they immediately pass the needle on to the next person. In order for an HIV infection to start it needs to get deep into the tissue. If you look up the statistics, you will see that even for a healthcare worker that pokes themselves with an HIV tainted needle, there is a less than 1 percent chance they will become infected. It is not that easy to get actually.
I can't say for sure that needles have not been reused obviously but I'm thinking 99.9% of the time this does not happen in the healthcare setting. A person's practice could be shut down so unless you are going to some shack in the woods to get dentistry done, I don't think you need to worry about this.
Have you been diagnosed with HIV anxiety and have you gotten treatment for it? Or do you have other irrational thinking tendencies that would put you in the OCD category?
my last question is how does the virus stay active in a IV drug users needles wouldn't the drug deactivate it?
