So 4 years ago, I was walking by a dog and it’s owner at my apartment building and at that time, I was pretty fearful of dogs and this might’ve affected it’s behavior because it might’ve sensed my fear as well as seen me making eye contact with it and such. But anyways, as it’s passing me it jumps onto my left forearm but i take my arm out quickly and am left with 6 or so slight scratches, I don’t remember there being blood and i quickly wiped of the dog’s saliva and left to go home and rubbed rubbing alcohol on the scratches and around them. I didn’t think about the possibility of rabies and forgot this incident for 4 years until I remembered and began worrying as I did not get vaccinated or anything. Do you think that due to the slight scratches, the rabies virus would taken longer to get to my brain rather than a deep wound and thus would affect me soon or is there little chance? I didn’t get the dog’s vaccine status or anything either. I also had a tingling sensation a while ago in that area but didn’t feel it for like 2 weeks now, I’d think it’s unrelated. Thank you very much for reading.
Sincerely,
A hypochondriac
