I am a 52-year old male. 4 months ago, I suddenly developed a "cold patch" in the center of my back between my shoulder blades. This eventually spread to feelings of cold in my upper arms and thighs. These always occured during the day. I am constantly gett the kinds of "chills" one gets when one sees something emotial ("shivers"). I then developed tingling sensations in my arms (especially forearms) legs and face. Lately I have had prickly feelings in my hands and feet. It is important to note that I have NO weakness, NO actually numbness, NO pain! I haven't even had a cold in six months. Just these almost constant paresthesisas. I have had blood tests for just about everything (CBC panels, western blot lyme, heavy metal poisoning, you name it) from a GP and an infectious disease specialist, been examined by a Neurologist and had a MRI of the thoracic spine (where the cold sensation started) and MRIs with and without contrast of the brain and cervical spine. All were normal. Brain MRI was described as "exquisitely" normal. The only thing revealed on all of these tests were a) high cholesterol and 2) a slight vitamin D deficiency, which I have been taking supplements for since; c) an indication on the Western Blot of a current exposure to lyme, which was treated with the normal course of antibiotics. The lyme thing was weird because I didn't have any of the "current exposure" type symptoms but had it treated anyway. The infectious disease doctor said that there's no real change of central nervous system lyme because she's treated thousands of people with it and I don't have the problems they have.
I am at my wits end here. I am able to do every activity I ever could but cannot enjoy them because of these "symptoms," and am constantly distracted by them which is impacting my ability to work. I am a widowed father of two teenagers who is under a signficant amount of stress and who is usually sleep deprived. That's about it. I get frustrated searching through forums because, while a lot of people have symptoms like these, they tend to have a whole bunch of symptoms I don't, typically involving, weakness, numbness, pain, fatigue, etc. I am, of course grateful I don't have these, but am perplexed about what it is I DO have. Thanks for any insight you can provide.
