I am sorry to hear of the woorsening problem. I pray that it heals soon!
I took zelnorm forever. Now that it isoff themarket I take another Rx as needed. Everyday, I take meralax. Canstipation will always be with you, but keeping it softer is the best that you can do. Fiber just gives me horrible gas. I told my gastero, if I can't pass poop, what makes you think that the gas is anydifferent. Miralax everyday and an occasional Rx or Mag Citrate when absolutely necessary.
NOW HAVE A RECTAL TEAR FROM TALL OF THE CONSTIPATION ISSUES THOUGHT I JUST HAD HEMMORHOIDS BUT COULD NOT FIGURE OUT WHY THEY WERE NOT GETTING ANY BETTER AND WHY I WAS IN SO MUCH PAIN

Hey. Do some research on magnesium. I take 1 tsp daily in powdered form and it is the only natural thing that has worked for me. It has many other benefits as well.
To Marymoto,
This is causing me such problems now that I have started vomiting this week .
Sometimes it feels like the signals from the brain are not getting through.
Constipation and urine retention are my two worst symtoms.
The vomiting is a new one though.
I will follow some of these ideas.
Hope you also get some releif!

People with MS have constipation for a number of reasons. One is because they aren't drinking enough water. It's important to keep your fluid intake at normal levels - even if you have a problem with retention, like summerluvr, or with urge incontinence, like me.
Another is because the muscles of the colon sometimes become weak, and they aren't helping to move things along. The longer stuff stays in your large intestine, the more water will be absorbed, which means that you'll have a concrete brick inside of you. That's when you have to take matters into your own hands... so to speak. I won't elaborate, but it's rather nasty.
The best thing IMO is to keep your fiber intake up, and stick with natural supplements to help things along. And drink lots of water!
I'm dealing with this issue since november. I am also an IBS'r but was always a problem of frequent going, not at all. Nov and Dec have been bad once a week I would have to take a bunch of laxatives because I couldn't go on my own. Have now started ground flaxseed in a smoothie everyday like Twopack. My sister's midwife said flax is good for the Omega oils to keep things moving, she recomends a table spoon of flax oil a day, but the flax seed has an added bonus of fibre (but I still havent' noticed a difference yet!) I take a magnesium vtiamin pill too that helps a bit. I'm just really trying to avoid taking drugs for this problem! I can't drink a lot of water because I have bladder retention so that doesn't help! In the past I would drink an extra glass of warm water at bedtime.
I take 3 Colace (stool softener) every night. Colace, I use generic, works very well for me and stay regular with it. I made the mistake of running out and not taking it for a week. BAD idea. Had industrial constipation. Mag citrate fixed that and am now back to my norm.
Hope you find something that works well for you.

I use flaxseed in a loose ground form mixed in with some yogurt on a daily basis. I started using this to benefit from the Omega-3s and to help with irritable bowel. It has really helped cut down on the gut pains. But I also soon noticed that the practice kept me more regular than anything else I've tired. I do also take a softener twice a day.
As a side, I have my horse to thank for introducing me to the wonders of flaxseed. I noticed how improved her coat and hooves were after starting her on it. The company made human products too so I gave it a try. Just one of the successful symptom treatments I've found after doctors had nothing to offer.
