Hi,
How are you? Hemiplegic migraine has been associated with gene mutations inherited from parents. Many factors are also considered like age, immune system, presence of co-morbid conditions and medical history, and may not give us a definite or clear cut answer in managing this condition. Like other migraine management, both acute and preventive medications may help. Anticonvulsant medication or calcium channel blocker may help reduce the number and severity of future attacks while for severe attacks like intravenous valproic acid or magnesium sulfate may be indicated. Take care and best regards.
