CONSTANT HEADACHES

I was diagnosed with hyper thyroid about 8 years ago i got it radiated and treated,i am taking levothyroxil once daily and my thyroid levels are normal.
About 5 months ago i would randomly get light headed phases but it would only last a few minutes about once a month.About a month ago i was laying in bed and my whole body went numb that had never happened before.I went to the emergency room and the drew blood, looked at my heart everything was fine so they didnt really have an answer.
Since then I have constant headaches, and dizziness if i stand up for to long or am in a warm building does anyone have any ideas what this could be i cant figure it out, thanks.

Hi,

A complete work up would be best. A carotid duplex scan will determine the patency of your neck vessels. Decreased blood flow to the brain may cause light headedness and dizziness. A CT Scan will be of help to rule out intracranial involvement. Both imaging modalities are essential as they look into separate possible conditions.

An ENT specialist will be able to help you in rulng out any underlying ear problems.

i had my thyroid checked about 2 weeks ago and it was normal level.it was a really high level a few months ago but now it is back to normal so i dont know if that would make a diffrence.
i do take birth control but i have been on the same dose for a long time.
how would i go about getting my ears checked for any problems?
i dont have any varicosities in my legs and my blood pressure stays about the same from laying down and standing up.
my headaches and dizziness arent usually as bad when i lay down.but sometimes when im up for a little while i get strong headaches.
the only medications that i am taking are my thyroid medication and birth control.
it was just weird because it all happened so randomly one day and ive had headaches and light headedness since then.

so the first thing you would suggest doing is the carotid ultrasound?
i was told to get a cat scan because it could be a brain tumor?

Hi,

When was the last time you had your thyroid hormones checked? No changes in medication dose lately?

One thing to consider here is orthostatic hypotension, vascular insufficiencies, hormonal imbalance, vertigo secondary to inner ear disorders to name a few.I suggest you have a complete vascular work up which includes a carotid ultrasound and a duplex scan of peripheral blood vessels in the extremities would also help.Any varicosities in the legs?
How was your blood pressure when lying down and when standing up from a lying down position? Are you taking any anti hypertensive medications?

Avoid extreme temperatures as your thyroid problem may deem you more sensitive and intolerant to temperature changes.Avoid sudden standing from a lying down position. Eat well and get a good amount of exercise to enhance circulation.

Do keep us posted for anything.
