is this herpes both inside mouth and on genital

Dear Sirs/Madams,
About 6-7 days ago, I got some white ulcers in my mouth (I often have this) could be because I didn't eat enough fruit while traveling. During the travel I bought an L-Arginine supplement which I ate when I was home. this was 2 days afteri got the mouth ulcers. 1 day after the arginine supplement, I masturbate for quite long about 20 minutes (wife was on period). The morning after i got a small bump/blister on top of my penis. i did not feel a thing. confused, I masturbate again and the bumps broke and i believe left a tiny hole with blood in it. I never felt anything, only a bit painful if i put some wound medications. I took the arginine supplement for the next 4 days. on day 4 after i got the bump, i went to a dermato-venerologist. after 1 look into the penis he said it was hsv 1. this was shocking to me because:

1. I am my wife's first and vice versa.
2. I did get Hand Job many years before marriage in massage parlors.
3. Never had any sort of oral sex with other people.
4. never kissed any other people. yes date once and get married.

I live in a country where kissing other people socially (when we meet someone like handshake) is very uncommon.

Thus, my questions are:
1. Do I have genital herpes? On day 5 which is today, the sore/blister (sorry my english) had already gone only have red discoloration looked from certain angle.
2. The sores in my mouth, are those primary herpetic stomatitis. I kissed my daughters and afraid might gave the, the disease.
3. Could it be that this is a recurrent herpes triggered by arginine or rough masturbation?

The doctor told me I could've gotten it from towel, hand job, public toilet.

Please help on what I should do. I am very thankful for any feedback.

Thank you

Confused and scared Joe

hi Grace,

I stand corrected. After going through pictures of coldsores, I realize i had it perhaps 5-7 years ago. I feel like I am very uneducated at this because I thought it was insect bites.

thank you for your time. really appreciated everything

most adults have hsv1. Most of them don't get obvious cold sores to know it and are unaware of their infection until tested or until they transmit the virus to a partner either orally or genitally.  there doesn't seem to be the same false positive issue with hsv1 as there is hsv2.

I Copy paste my post from before and add something:

Hi Grace:

The following are my test results day 6.

Method ELISA.

HSV2: both igg and igm for hsv 2 are non reactive.

HSV1: IGG is 3.52 reactive > 1.1
           IGM is 0.01 non reactive < 0.8

What do these numbers tell me? My Lab Doctor told me that I was exposed in the past but currently no outbreak. Is it possible to have positive IGG but never experience outbreak in the past?

At this time, I just want to think that I am currently having no outbreak but was exposed in the past though it was asymptomatic. Also hoping for a false positive result on the IGG.

I am still confused how did I contract the hsv1....

Sincerely,

Thank you
Joe

more likely it's just from masturbating without a good sex lube.  you absolutely can't diagnose type by looking and even a visual diagnosis of genital herpes isn't very accurate.  I assume neither you nor your wife have ever been tested for herpes before?

you have a history of canker sores in your mouth.   They are pretty common and aren't related to herpes. Common causes are acidic foods and illness as well as trauma to the mouth.

you absolutely did not contact herpes from a hand towel, a hand job or public toilets!!  your provider was completely off base saying that too!!

hi grace,

thank you for replying. the doctor only did a visual. .I am clear now on the genital. However, still have some stomatitis/ canker sores. Again, i must reiterate that I get canker sores very often not sure why. I usually combat it with combination of fruit and probiotic.

I want to go for a  blood test today can't help but feeling helpless...

HSV type 1 causes cold sores (also called fever blisters) on the lips. HSV-1 is generally spread by kissing or by sharing eating utensils (such as spoons or forks) when sores are present. HSV-1 can also cause sores around the genitals.

Opening mouth kiss when while you are contagious. You can ask for a culture test.

your doctor isn't very educated on herpes and how it's acquired :(

did they even do any testing on your symptoms or just visually diagnose herpes and type?

I wasn't very clear on my 1st post. The doctor look into my penis but I did not show the ulcers in my mouth since I was sure those were canker sores. I got canker sores very often usually cleared by lactobacillus. Now after thorough reading, I just realize there's another condition called herpetic stomatitis.

Please help. thank you
