Herpetic stomatitis??? Urgent

Hello,

I had a small yellow patch under my tongue which was kind of sore. So I went to dentist's office and he told me it was stomatitis, but he didn't say herpetic or something. He just put on some ointment and was done. When I asked the nurse if I can kiss my boyfriend she said yes, Can I trust her? Also she recommended me a "Triamcinolone Acetonide" ointment.

I kissed a guy about 14 days ago could he have given me HSV and I din't know about it? I had a antibiotics for couple of weeks (amoxycillin and metronidazole) will that somehow weaken my immune system.

I got a date tomorrow and I'm pretty sure we will kiss. Can I be sure that I won't give him herpes or something? Or should I avoid kissing altogether.

Your replies would be much appreciated.

Can you imagine that they have the same name for canker sores and stomatitis? I will go to a different doctor and figure things out.

Thanks for your replies. It really is a shame that I can't kiss him. He was away for a week.I saw some pictures on the Internet for Oral Herpes it really doesn't look like my problem. I grind my teeth in sleep and got my self a mouthguard plus I was very tired. I suspect that might have been the reason because the pain got a lot better after I stopped using the mouthguard. It has been almost a week since I started noticing my tongue to be tender. But not sure about the yellow patch. I only saw that today when the dentist pointed it out. SO

1. I can just go to a general practitioner and he can definitely tell me if it is herpes related.
2. I should not kiss the guy. Even if it wasn't herpes related. One thing to wonder just as a theoretical question, can I give him herpes through condom protected vaginal sex without kiss?
3. There is no way of knowing if I have it until 3 months has passed.
4. Even if I have it it is no big deal because almost 70% of people have it. But I shouldn't give the guy oral if I have it.

Am I right?

Again thanks for your time and replies.

you can try for a lesion culture but at this point it's likely to be negative regardless since it sounds like it's been there for a few days now?

just your regular doctor is a fine place to go.

Can I get tested somehow and know if I got HSV1 now? Maybe a swab from that area? I don't remember having cold sores. How likely is it to get HSV1 through kissing? What doctor would you recommend just a general practitioner will do or should I go to a bigger hospital? I'm in a foreign country now. So it is very very difficult for me. To tell the truth I have OCD and it is proving extremely difficult for me. Can doctors tell oral herpes from other stomatitis just by looking? So other stomatitis are contagious? I'm never going to believe nurses again.

I certainly wouldn't kiss anyone until this is healed. if it really is stomatitis, it is often contagious.

I would not use that ointment in your  mouth.

if you doubt what you were told, see your doctor for a 2nd opinion.

Can a dentist recognize herpetic stomatitis reliably? If he had a doubt would he ask me to go to a different doctor. Shoul I go to a different doctor ?I'm really freaking out here because I really like the guy  I'm seeing  and wouldn't want to contract him anything.

How severe is the Herpetic stomatitis symptoms? It has been a week and I only have smallish yellow patch under my tongue. How long does it take to get the symptoms if I got it the first time? I am really really worried over this. Even if I go and get tested I will not know till 3 months after right? or if the symptoms are showing the tests can detect it too? How can I protect the guy from this?
