does my husband need immediate medical attention?

my husbands blood pressure is 124/90 with a pulse of 112. It is 10 pm and I am concerned-should I take him to the hospital?

I'm with curmudgen, weird question to ask an anonymous patient to patient support forum.

sometimes I think we just need reassurance that if we're taking the right step in getting emergency care or not...heck I've done it myself knowing my symptoms I should get myself to the ER but don't.

as patients we can't say yes or no; but it's good to have somewhere to get some guidance at times.

it's always best to call the dr's office and speak to the doctor in these cases - someone will be on call or if your insurance is like mine - I have a 24 hour nurse on call and I can even go through the system and speak to a nurse online and explain what's going on and they decide if I should head to the ER or clinic.

I don't think questions regarding medical emergencies should be asked on a forum, regardless if a doctor is present or not, but I can't see any emergencies in the question. The diastolic blood pressure is borderline and the heart rate is a little high, and in my opinion a reason to see a doctor, but I wouldn't call the paramedics based on those results alone :-) So I guess it's OK to ask, but the title "immediate medical attention" was a bit scary.

If I have such questions, I call the emergency room (they usually don't concern myself, luckily).

I think many of us wonder if the funny heart beat, tummy cramp, headache is a problem or just a normal blip in the body function. I don't think it's unusual to ask if others think it's urgent or just wait it out. When it comes to the heart, it's good to ask those who live with heart problems what they think. Surely if her husband was having pain, light-headedness, nausea, something more than a bit of fast heart rate, she wouldn't have asked us for input.

It's a  little late for any advice .. however in the future  a phone call to the local ER can provide immediate information as to what to do...I don't understand why one would ask this question on the internet.....

This is *THE WRONG PLACE* to ask the questions posted.
However, the answer (at the time) was: "How does he feel?"

The blood pressure doesn't seem so bad, the bottom number may be a little higher than normal.  Normal pulse is 60-90, so that is high.  If there is any doubt, get him checked out.  Better safe than sorry.  Good luck.
