infant-mother

Hello dear friends, I have a question to consult you. I know that HIV virus can transmit from mother to infant through breast feeding , but can the HIV virus transmit from infant to mother? I have a friend, her baby suck a strange lady's milk when they went to the park oneday. When they came back home, my friend started worrying, if the lady is a HIV +, then baby will be infected.
My friend continues to give breastfeeding to her baby(for her son is only 10-day old), she worries if the infant was infected , can she be infected through breastfeeding?(which means when the infant sucks her nipple, can the virus transmit from infant to mother? Her nipples have some cracks and there are ulcerations in the baby's mouth). need your help!

She should be posting for herself.

No risk

If your friend has further concerns, tell her to talk to her doctor.

thank you so much! My friend doesn't have enough milk, so when that stranger offer the baby her milk, my friend didn't think too much...if it is not a risk from infant to mother, can you explain why? Really hope to know why. She feeds her baby everyday, so there are wound in her nipple, and the baby also has  ulcerations in his mouth. hoping for your reply, thanks again!

So, you're "friend" allowed her baby to nurse from someone with an unknown HIV status? And she is afraid that SHE might contract HIV from her own baby? Sounds like some seriously misplaced priorities....if the story is true. But, to answer this silly question, the answer is no. Not a risk.
