I'm sorry to hear that your Mom is having such a hard time.  It's wonderful that you are trying so hard to help her.  There are so many things that could be causing this including a condition called achalasia: http://achalasia.us/AllaboutAchalasia.html.  I agree with Tessabella82, that she really needs to talk to a Gastroenterologist.  The GI should have some ideas to help you sort this out.

God bless, Godspeed and good luck, Gudy!

All the best,

Sam

Hi,

How old is ur mom? You said the doc said she has a block in between her esophagus and stomach.. what did he say about that or does he have any plans of treating it? Sometimes, the esophagus tends to constrict and causes for someone to have a hard time swallowing (dysphagia).. This isn't a good thing as it would cause someone to be prone to choking.. Sometimes doctors perform a procedure where he actually dilate the esophagus. I would suggest that you get a follow-up appt with a Gastroenterologist for ur mom. Hope this helps.
