UNDIAGNOSED SUMPTOMS???

Hi & thank you for your help.

My Name is Tristan I am
25 Year old Male
I drank 15 beers  a day for 1.5 years.
I gained 90lbs in that time.
I was also taking only 1MG of Klonopin
Since Oct. 28th 2008 I have no drank or taken ANY drugs except NEURONTIN to control withdrawl effects.

SYMPTOMS:
OUT OF NO WHERE RAPID BELCHING WITH SHORTNESS OF BREATH AND BACK PAIN UPPER AND LOWER. I HAVE HAD AN ENDOSCOPY & AND COLONOSCOPY ALL CAME BACK PERFECT.

As I am about to fall asleep It feels as thought my body goes numb and my throat closes so I shoot up out of bed...and struggle to gain breath for 20 seconds and it returns to normal.  I did GET A SLEEP STUDY DONE 2 TIMES.  1ST TIME I HAD CENTRAL SLEEP APNEA & HAD NO SYMPTOMS THERE AT ALL & THE NEXT TIME THE TESTS SAID I WAS FINE AND THAT NIGHT I HAD THESE SYMPTOMS?

I had had all extensive blood work done to check for diabetes or pancreatic problems.  All comes back normal.

But I feel sluggish randomly with the above symptoms & then when they are done I'm very tired.  The sleep symptom is scary.  It happened 19 times last night and I finally fell asleep.  It feels like I'm going to die?

I have had heart tests, lung scans...All normal.

How is this possible I am not making up this pain.  I used to be working out every day no worries and now my body is going insane.   I remember the first day it happened.  I was driving my car and all of a sudden a cool wave of nausea came over me and that was that.  It was like my BP spiked.  I have had Brain Scan normal...I don't understand.

Any one help please?  Is this just withdrawl even after 6 MONTHS?  Everyone says anxiety, but that is a cop out.

Thanks for any help!

Hi Kirb.

Update for you.

Was in the car driving to Chicago with my friend...all of a sudden felt weak as if I was going to pass out, followed by holding my breath in advertently..  Then the chest pain started and weakness in left arm. I thought for sure it was over...We got to dinner and symptoms remained...occasional normal feeling but mostly awful, heart palipations all that ****.  LAter that night I had to drive home and the drive was horrifying...same feelings.  The passing out feelings are the scariest..especially on Hightway.  Then i got home was about to fall alseep all of a sudden an odd buzzing/vibrating feeling..and OUTER deep shoulder LEFT arm pain that lasted for 2 horus and I took advil..I was terrofied. Woke up this morning Feeling sick, and my left arm felt odd.  Decided to go to ER today.  Blood test all normal...I mean wtf is happening here.  I'm not crazy...When I got back from hospital I was sitting ad all of a suddewn my whole body got really wwarm I felt sick...So I liekd down...and as I got tired lyinw on my LEFT side I got a similar feeling by my left rib cage and I shot out of bed struggling to catch breath adn then now since I have been up it is not come back altough it is sore in that area..maybe muscle related???? FYI i just got Thyroid checked and testosterone leves...all normal..Vitamin D was low, but NOT deficient.....While Iw as at the ER I noticed my Hertrate kept going below 60 as I was holding my breath NOT ON PYRPOSE.!!  and I would then breath normal and it would go back betweeen 60-75..I don't liek this it is runing my life/  Please help  All test are normal,. but this is not normal...could 1MG of Klonppin for 2 years and 20 beers a day for 2 years do this?  And if so why is tehre no NAME FOR IT???  I always get worried I have neuro syph and it dosen't show up..or MS....I don't understand  Back X ray showed normal spine and no tumors

i think you should start on a multivitamin for the nausea...i can almost guarantee that you are vitamin deffiecient, start yourself on a B-complex intake about 2000mg of vitamin C for three days, about 1000mg of A a day is always good to... i dont see how a secondary STD could cuase this unless it was neurosyphilis...so your heart actually feels like it stops? if so i think it could be a misfiring of the vagus nerve or maybe even a disk impeding on the vagus nerve...however i feel you should get a CT or an MRI of your brain...there could be a sort of lesion on your brain stem or apneustic area(this could cause the heart and breathing problems) however this is highly unlikely...i think you should start the vitamin complexes and maybe even a spinal x-ray to see if there is any nerve impesion? i could not imagine living in fear for my life everyday...plz go see a neurologist...this has neuro and maybe a specialist will have better luck...plz keep me posted

I did stop methyl 1 P, this was 2005.  I have not worked aboutin 3 years because of all of this.  I did not have any cancer.   Will be tested for those 2 STDs.  I have been waking up with leg or hand pain to, in addition to the heart stopping at night and sudden shortness of breath.  Like my brain is telling my body not to breathe.  Definitely neuro, or neruo muscular.  Very scary when every day feels like your last.  I feel nauseated in the mornings lately too..

i would say it could be herniated disk now...if the vertebrae is pinching on the right couple of nerves it could cause all these symptoms...except the racing heart rate....very strange because anything over 120 bpm is tachycardia...what kind of cancer did you have?  i think you could actually have multiple things wrong with you.... maybe a pinched nerve and some sort of strange neuro disorder...the thing about this methyl p-1 is that it can cause liver toxicity, it is linked to multiple kinds of cancer, and since you are on this pro-hormone then it could easily cause your adrenal glands to get all whacked out...i suggest stopping the methyl 1-p  and slow down on your working out...when did the cancer show, have you been tested for gonorreah or chlamydia?

Very good.  Thanks.

MAIN SYMPTOMS, with all tests perfect except enlarged spleen.

I did take this drug called Methyl 1-p by a company legal gear it is a soft steroid that acts on the petuatary gland.  It was around this time my hair started dissapearing and I had the cancre.  A lot of random things all at once.  I woke up last night and my left arm was killing me.  Most of this started when I was driving and out of no where in 2006 i got really nauseated and cold and had to lay down.  It was nuts.  The day before this happended I was at the gym, did a should press turned my head and got a JOLT down my body and got dizzy (pincehd nerve??) and my tongue burned for a few seconds then went away....then left arm was weak../.

Main Symptoms
Muscle twitching
Numb Face
Chest pain
Hard to Swallow
Short of breath, during exertion, after eating, and just sitting!
Facial Twitching
As I am about to fall asleep Jolted awake while feeling numb and it ias though my brain tells my body to stop breathing even though I'm fully awake?  This is scary, and then once I regain movement My heart is going 140bpm and it is scary.  This can happen 30 times a night.
White Cancer on Shaft of Penis gone in 5 weeks
Losing hair?  Had Syphillis tested 5 times with no  POSITIVE RESULTS????
Farigue
Burning sensation in chest.

your hematocrit levels are normal, your hemoglobin is about normal only slighly elevated ...RBC is about normal...i think the only reasonm your hemoglobins are high is because you are breathing differently to compensate for the change in respiratory activity...i could be wrong but when you breathe more you create more hemoglobins...no im no medical doctor...sadly...not yet...im still studying but ill get there...its cool meeting somebody whos interested in medicine...maybe i could ask for a consult on this website from you lol...i talk to some people with some pretty crazy cases lol... i dont even have anything wrong with me...i just love helping people...i think were looking in the wrong place...its not your liver....probably not pancrease or spleen im goin to look into a bunch of  neuro conditions related to klonopin or neurontin....and your sugars would show up whacked out if you had diabetes...sorry im a northern california guy...i still use my slang...lol
keep any new info on file for me... the possibilities are becoming limited now...i feel you will find your answer to your health here very soon...

Also, they say I do not have diabetes, but I feel like I do.

YOu can have normal urine and complete blood tests and still have it?

Hi Kirb, thanks for the info.  The enzymes reported slight elevation.  Results are as follows.

02-07-09 BARELY OVER LIKE.01
RBC HIGH AT 5.61
HEMAGLOBIN HIGH AT 17.2 BARELY OVER
HEMATOCRIT 50.5

No swollen lymphnodes, went to a hematologist call came back normal.  No history of seizures.  My take is that the KLONOPIN messsed up my nervous system and it does usually take a year to recover at least.  Heather Ashton( The Ashton Manual) Check it out on google.  My brain can do whatever it wants.  Only drug was alcohol and 1mg ONLY of klonpin for 2 years roughly.  Maybe some alcoholic neuropathy.  But def. nervous system damage and repair.  I liken it to an car sitting in winter for a long time(MY BRAIN)  on klonopin and then trying to start it out of no where( STOPPED TAKING KLONOPIN) it is going to have some bugs for a while until it runs smoothly.  I just hate when things affect my breathing, or heart sensations....Thanks for your guidance, are you med doctor as I would like to be?

i dont feel like writing right now i just hurt my hand...lol heres a post from wikipedia it tells you all about transaminases... i tried to summarize it for you

The biochemical hub of the body, the liver, has a variety of transaminases to synthesize and break down amino acids and to interconvert energy storage molecules. The concentrations of these in the serum (the non-cellular portion of blood) are normally low. However, if the liver is damaged, the hepatocyte cell membrane becomes more permeable and some of the enzymes leak out into the blood stream. The two transaminases commonly measured are alanine transaminase (ALT) and aspartate transaminase (AST). These levels previously were called the serum glutamate-pyruvate transaminase (SGPT) and the serum glutamate-oxaloacetate transaminase (SGOT). Elevated levels are quite sensitive for liver injury, meaning that they are likely to be present if there is injury. However, they may also be elevated in other conditions. ALT is not commonly found outside the liver; AST too is most commonly found in the liver, but also in significant amounts in cardiac (heart) and skeletal muscle. In fact, measurement of these used to be part of diagnosing heart attacks, although newer enzymes and proteins that are more specific for cardiac damage have largely replaced this usage.

In general, any damage to the liver will cause medium elevations in these transaminases (usually called liver enzymes, though of course they are not the only enzymes in the liver). And diagnosis requires synthesis of many pieces of information, including the patient's history, physical examination, and possibly imaging or other laboratory examinations. However, very high elevations of the transaminases suggests severe liver damage, such as viral hepatitis, liver injury from lack of blood flow, or injury from drugs or toxins. Most disease processes cause ALT to rise higher than AST; AST levels double or triple that of ALT are consistent with alcoholic liver disease.

Alkaline phosphatase (ALP) (EC 3.1.3.1) is a hydrolase enzyme responsible for removing phosphate groups from many types of molecules, including nucleotides, proteins, and alkaloids. The process of removing the phosphate group is called dephosphorylation. As the name suggests, alkaline phosphatases are most effective in an alkaline environment. The optimal pH for the activity of the E. coli enzyme is 8.0[1] while the bovine enzyme optimum pH is slightly higher at 8.5.[2]

It is sometimes used synonymously as basic phosphatase.[3]

[edit] Elevated levels (hyperphosphatasemia)
If it is unclear why alkaline phosphatase is elevated, isoenzyme studies using electrophoresis can confirm the source of the ALP. Heat stability also distinguishes bone and liver isoenzymes ("bone burns, liver lasts").

Liver (Liver ALP):
Cholestasis, cholecystitis, cholangitis, cirrhosis, hepatitis, fatty liver, liver tumor, liver metastases, drug intoxication
N.B. concurrently elevated GGT (gamma glutamyl transpeptidase) helps rule in favor of liver metastasis (rather than bone, kidney, etc.) when assessing spread of cancer.
Drugs: e.g. verapamil, carbamazepine, phenytoin, erythromycin, allopurinol, ranitidine
Bone disease (Bone ALP):
Paget's disease, osteosarcoma, bone metastases of prostatic cancer (High / very high ALP values)
Other bone metastases
Renal osteodystrophy
Fractured bone
Multiple myeloma (only when associated with fractures)
Skeletal involvement of other primary diseases:
Osteomalacia, rickets, vitamin D deficiency, (Moderate rise)
Malignant tumors (ALP originating from tumor)
Renal disease (secondary hyperparathyroidism)
Primary hypothyroidism
Polycythemia vera
Myelofibrosis
Leukemoid reaction to infection
Women using hormonal contraception
Pregnancy
Biliary obstruction
Transient hyperphosphatasaemia of infancy: benign, often associated with infection

[edit] Lowered levels (hypophosphatasemia)
Hypophosphatasia, an autosomal recessive disease
Postmenopausal women receiving estrogen therapy because of osteoporosis
Men with recent heart surgery, malnutrition, magnesium deficiency, hypothyroidism or severe anemia
Children with achondroplasia and cretinism
Children after a severe enteritis
Pernicious anemia
Aplastic anemia
Chronic myelogenous leukemia

sorry abvout the EXTREMELY LONG amount of info....yes the CT would have seen something with the liver...but your enzymes are elevated and thats not something to simply look over...i think you should get another enzyme panel....and another CBC were you ever in the military? and yes klonopin is horrible...so many side effects...im almost sure that your issues are either stemming from neurological issues or a hidden liver issue...i would really need to see the test results to say for sure...do you have the exact numbers of the enzyme count? have you ever had a history of seizures of any kind? any recreational drugs?(im not here to judge we all like to have fun)... so inflamation of the spleen huh???? do you have any swollen lymph nodes? keep me posted

Great post.

I had a CT of the abdomen done 4 months ago as well as a liver ultrasound.  They said everything was perfect except I had an enlarged spleen.  KLONOPIN is the worst drug ever.  My doctor said it is 2nd only to Heroin in withdrawl effects.  It is just hard to believe after 6 months this is still going on.  I did read that the BRAIN or central nervous system takes a lot longer to heal than the body )i.e. when you get a bruise it heals fast.  The brain takes  a lot longer.  The CT of the abdomen would have caught liver correct?  and what do eserum transaminases and alkaline phosphate do?  The liver is so resilient to a point.  I hope all of this just stops!  Let me know Kirb..Thank you,

Tristan

have you been tested for diabetes? if your blood sugar was normal when you took the CBC it wouldnt have showed any possibility of diabetes...which leads me to the raised enzyme levels... look at these possible side effects of klonopin-The most frequently occurring side effects of Klonopin are referable to CNS depression. Experience in treatment of seizures has shown that drowsiness has occurred in approximately 50% of patients and ataxia in approximately 30%. In some cases, these may diminish with time; behavior problems have been noted in approximately 25% of patients. Others, listed by system, are:

Neurologic: Abnormal eye movements, aphonia, choreiform movements, coma, diplopia, dysarthria, dysdiadochokinesis, “glassy-eyed” appearance, headache, hemiparesis, hypotonia, nystagmus, respiratory depression, slurred speech, tremor, vertigo

Psychiatric: Confusion, depression, amnesia, hallucinations, hysteria, increased libido, insomnia, psychosis, suicidal attempt (the behavior effects are more likely to occur in patients with a history of psychiatric disturbances). The following paradoxical reactions have been observed: excitability, irritability, aggressive behavior, agitation, nervousness, hostility, anxiety, sleep disturbances, nightmares and vivid dreams

Respiratory: Chest congestion, rhinorrhea, shortness of breath, hypersecretion in upper respiratory passages

Cardiovascular: Palpitations

Dermatologic: Hair loss, hirsutism, skin rash, ankle and facial edema

Gastrointestinal: Anorexia, coated tongue, constipation, diarrhea, dry mouth, encopresis, gastritis, increased appetite, nausea, sore gums

Genitourinary: Dysuria, enuresis, nocturia, urinary retention

Musculoskeletal: Muscle weakness, pains

Miscellaneous: Dehydration, general deterioration, fever, lymphadenopathy, weight loss or gain

Hematopoietic: Anemia, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, eosinophilia

Hepatic: Hepatomegaly, transient elevations of serum transaminases and alkaline phosphatase

these are all side effects of klonopin it is possible that this drug could have caused inflamation of the liver at the posterior lobes(which would be undetectable by ultrasound) you need a CT scan inflamation of the liver(hepatomegaly) could cause elevated liver enzymes...and also as you can see this drug may RAISE serum transaminases and alkaline phosphate...and this drug has so many different side effects  along w/ the neurontin(gabapentin) it causes many of the same hepatic(liver) side effects...keep me posted

Hi Kirb.  THanks for reading.

I did have complete metabolic Panel.  Liver enzymes were slightly raised.  SO they did do an ultra sound of liver to check blood flow and everything was perfect.  I did get a stress test and it was normal.  CBC was perfect.  I saw a Oncologist for blood cancers and all perfect?  Being 25 they said my liver was fine and I am lucky.

what about fatty liver, mild stage cirrhosis, increased AST levels can cause a BP spike, also you may want to see a hepatologist...i mean chances are you messed your liver up when you were drinking 15 beers a day... i would suggest getting a full liver enzyme panel, not everything it could be has been ruled out...there is still a lot of other things that may not come back in the average test...have the liver panel, you should ask about a cholangiopancreatography, an ultrasound of your liver, a CBC, cardio stress test, and and get checked for hepatitis...very good possiblilty

I was just about to say anxiety..because if you check on symptoms of either panic/anxiety attacks...you have some of them.  I understand you are saying "that is a cop out", but it is true.

It seems everything else is normal, you tests all come back normal..so it only leaves about 1 thing.

Good luck to you!
