Rectal pain and inflammation

I've had rectal pain and irritation for 6 weeks now.  No blood in bm.  On first exam doctor thought hemorrhoid or fissure.  Two weeks later I had anoscopy done and doctor just saw lots of inflammation.  Sometimes that pain is to the left also.  My sister is allergic to gluten and my mom has diverticulitits.  I am young women, 31, married with one son.  Anyone have any ideas what this is?  I've tried several herbal supplements and rectal suppositiories.  I am on steroidal suppositories now.  Any ideas what this is?  Could it be food allergy?  I just started gluten free 2 days ago.  Haven't really noticed a difference yet.  Also, all my life been constipated.  I used to be on antibiotics a lot as a child.  First 2 days gluten free I've been pooping like crazy.  Is this normal? Any help would be great.  I have no health insurance as I quit my job to go back to school.  thansk

I would recommend that you talk to your doctor about getting a colonoscopy which might give more information about what is causing the inflammation.

no colonscopy just an anoscopy.  The doctor seemed to have no idea where the inflammation was coming from and just gave me some cortizone suppositiories.  they help with the inflammation but the pain is still there.
do you have any ideas?  I was on a round of antibiotics right before this started for a toenail infection.

Welcome to the gastroenterology community!  Did you mean that you had a colonoscopy done?  Did the doctor say what the inflammation was from or was a biopsy taken?
