New Eyeglass prescription

I was just recently told I have the beginning of Cataract in both my eyes. I have been seeing blurry so this solves that...  The dr. decided that surgery was not necessary now and we would try a new eyeglass prescription. What has me a little puzzled is that the dr. never put those little lenses in front of my eyes to see which I could see better with and to determine my new prescription. Is this unusual?? He did diolate, etc....

Thanks for your response

At some point you should have had a refraction which DOES involve the "better 1` or 2" . If that wasn't done then hold off on getting the glasses and call the office and ask your question.

There is a instrument automatic refractor that will do a objective glasses test without any response from the person but in adults and older children is is customary to then do a subjective refraction which is where you make your choices. Check also and see if your were charged for a refraction if you are a medicare patient.
