I see a bright line all the time

Recently I've noticed that I see a bright line across my right eye.  It ends with a little patch of flashy dots (not floaters.)  I keep thinking that it will develop into an optical migraine but it never does, and it's been several days.  I've been told I have an enlarged optic nerve at past eye exams but that it was normal in some people.

Should I go see an opthamologist?  What could this be?

Thanks, I did see an ophthalmologist today.  She didn't see an occlusion but did see a blood vessel which she called a "variance" but assured me was normal.  Didn't offer a suggestion about why the line was there, but told me that everything looked healthy and not to worry.

It doesn't have to be that serious but it needs ruled out.

Yes you need to see an ophthalmologist early this coming week. Small vascular occlusions (blockage of retinal arteries or veins) can cause those symptoms.
