Diffferent eye prescription from 2 doctors for 6 year old

I went to an eye doctor to get my 6 year old examined. He gave an astigmatism prescription. He used an old autorefractor and then followed up with manual refraction to come up with final prescription. I went for a second opinion. The second doctor used a newer autorefractor but did no manual refraction.

The prescriptions are very different in one eye. The first dr gave OD as sp: -0.5 cy: -2.25 ax: 15 OS as sp -0.25 cy: -1.5 ax 155. The second dr gave sp: -0.5 cy: -2.25 ax: 10 OS as sp -0.5 cy: -2.25 ax 170

Which would be a more accurate prescription.

The RE is about the same. LE has significant differences. No way to tell which is the most accurate. You should decide which doctor you feel the most comfortable with then probably go back show both results and have them double test the LE.

Thanks Dr. Hagan!
Sure and best of luck. Some kids are very hard to test. Don't forget to have all your children checked as these types of refractive problems often occur in siblings.
