Throbbing Ear

Can somebody please tell me what could be the cause of a throbbing ear? I have had this throbbing for the past 3 weeks and it's not only irritating me but i have a concern that the problem might be greater than i think it is.

Hello and hope you are doing well.

As suggested the common cause for the ear pain could be otitis interna (inner ear infection). The other common causes for pain are cerumen (ear wax) impaction, otitis  externa and myringitis, which is inflammation of the tympanic membrane. You may need to consult your primary care physician who will examine you and initiate appropriate therapy.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

Thank you. I would like to prevent an ear infection from happening, as it has not happened yet.

Ear infection is the number one cause.
TMJ  ( grinding of the teeth, over use of the jaw ) is another.

You should probably see a doctor because it's been longer than 2 weeks.
