Thank you again for the information. I will surely be happy to end this pain, I'm about ready to try to operate on myself. lol
Hi Steve,
Thank you for your reply, I have had a difficult time finding people to ask about the surgery. I will see the doctor next Thursday, but I was wondering how the pain was after the surgery, like how bad is the pain and do you need pain killers afterward, if so how long? I have a difficult time taking any meds for extended periods of time.
Also, did you notice that your thinking was clearer and you had less anxiety afterwards?
Hi,
I had the procedure a year ago, it helped me a lot. For more info look here:

Or send me a pm.
Good luck with everything.
You're welcome. Sorry to see that they blocked the URL above. Where they put ************ put 'ehealthforum', and the link will work; plenty of info there. (if this forum would have the same options as that one I wouldn't link to another forum).
I had the external version of the surgery. If you have the option of choice I think the intra-oral version of this surgery is probably the better choice if you look at scarring and post-operative pain. With time it will become less visible, but at this point I have a pretty big scar from just in front of my ear to a few centimeters under the middel of my lower jaw.
As for the post-operative pain, while still in hospital for the first 48 hours I needed strong pain killers, after that I was put on otc meds like paracetamol etc. for another week or so. So all together I think the post-op pain was manageable.
I never had issues with anxiety, so I can't tell you about that. But less pain definitely is good for thinking clearer.
I hope this helps you. I've also sent you a pm.
