Left Ear

I have been having this sharp pain every so often in my left ear come and goes all of the sudden. My ear also rings for a long period of time and just recently I have noticed a thumping noise almost like a twitch. Any ideas?

Perception of abnormal ear or head noises is termed as TINNITUS. Persistent tinnitus usually indicates the presence of sensory hearing loss. Intermittent periods of mild, high-pitched tinnitus lasting for several minutes are common in normal hearing persons. Since your problem has been of a recent origin associated with pain, it may be a temporary phenomenon. The other common causes for pain are cerumen (ear wax) impaction, otitis externa and otitis interna (inner ear infection). Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance.

its not that type of pain and its been off and on for a few monts the pain is sharp and radiates down jaw line a bit
