I don't have a infection the doctors said today. I am on daily doxycycline because of mrsa from spin surgery. However that's under control.  I just don't understand why my ears are swollen shut.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello and hope you are doing well.

The discharge could be due to otitis externa. Ear canals can get swollen due to infections when it is referred to as otitis externa. The infecting agents are bacteria, fungi and viral. Bacterial infections need antibiotics and fungal anti fungal agents. Viral infections are by exclusion and do not need any antibiotic therapy. It could also be a middle ear infection causing the discharge. Consult your primary care physician who will do blood tests and take a swab and may do a culture to determine the cause and prescribe appropriate medications.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

Sounds like an ear infection. See your doctor before you develop permanent hearing loss.
