What is the right type of doctor?

What is the best type of doctor to dx an adolescent who has a high IQ, ADHD, anger issues, and possible overexcitable issues and direct a good course of treatment?  We know vyvance has improved his focus at school for reading and math however, we have moved from abilify to tenex with success.  Therapy is fustrating because his behaviour isn't consistent enough to plot a course.  What I mean is, one week he is able to manage himself daily then the next week he may have a meltdown resulting from overreacting to a friend's comment then he is ok a few days later.  The last therapist was fustrated so we quit seeing her.

I really would like my son to resolve his anger issues and managing his emotional sensitivity effectively.

A child/adolescent psychiatrist would be in a good position to clarify the diagnosis, as would any seasoned specialist in child/adolescent mental health. Neuropsychological testing would certainly be useful in clarifying the cognitive and psychological components of your son's functioning.

I wanted to add... that we had seem a handful of psychologists and psychiatrists, many who have told me he was possibly ADHD with reservation because he has been able to compensate his diffiiciencies with logical reasoning.  We have only found one psychiatrist who was certain.  Would a neuropsychiatrist/psychologist be a better type of doctor for these issues?
