I have just been told I have a 2.4mm micro tumour in the right lobe of the pituitary. I have a history of 4mm adenoma removed from pituitary in 1993 and left adrenalectomy removal due to another adenoma in 1992. For years I was told my worsening PMS had nothing to do with Cushings Disease. However in the last 12 months my symptoms worsened and I thought I was menopausal due to flushes, etc. Blood tests showed that I was not menopausal. I was then told I had depression. I took medication but symptoms worsened so I weaned off antidepressants. I now have insomnia, weight gain, acne, carbohydrate cravings, high blood pressure. I only had one dextamethasone suppression test (normal) and eventually my doctor agreed to an MRI. I am now waiting to see neurosurgeon and endocrinologist. But I am wondering why was I told I have a micro tumour. Is this different to an adenoma. I think I have cyclic cushing disease and would appreciate if anyone could advise me as I want to make sure I am well informed by the time I meet the specialists. I rally have no quality of life at the moment and want to make sure I get the correct treatment eventually.
