I know this is an old post but I took YAZ for years as my birth control and I had a baseball size Pheo removed along with my left adrenal gland a couple years ago. Did you ever find anything more on the relation between Yaz and Pheos?

Search the literature for the Phase I clinical trials on the drugs- this drug caused pheochromocytomas in animals during early clinical trials...
Did you or your mom start a facebook page on this? I know someone did. Maybe you could post the address here. I too am being evaluated for pheo because of unexplained high bp and hot flashes that started after I stopped taking Yaz.
melissa & megmeg,
My mother is pheogirl...is there a way I can contact the two of you?
I was actually diagnosed with pheochromocytoma last year and had my adrenal gland removed in May of 2009. I had no symptoms surprisingly. They actually found it in an MRI for a back injury I had. They tested me with bloodwork, 24 urine, everything imaginable but still assumed it could not be a pheo b/c as you know it is super rare and for me to have no symptoms, they just thought it was crazy. Eventually after an MIBG scan they diagnosed me with the pheo and removed it. Thankfully my hormones levels have returned to normal.
Here's my concern though...through a random internet search just now I found your post. I do take Yasmin and have for more years than I can remember. I am still on it. I had no idea and no knowledge that Yasmin Birth Control might could cause a pheo. If possible, can you please let me know where you found this information? It scares me quite a bit that I could develop another tumor b/c they said that pheos can be bilateral and I should watch out for that in the future. You can contact me at *****.****AT*****.***. Maybe we could exchange info. I'd appreciate any help! THANK YOU.
I am also being tested for this! and I am on Yasmin. They told me to think about switching because this one can caused an elevated heart rate, which I have. I'm probably going to go off of this pill soon, just in case, and start on a new one. Good luck to both of you
Hi - I haven't been officially diagnosed with Pheochromocytoma yet, but I'm in the process of being evaluated for it. It's the only condition that matches ALL of my symptoms exactly...and yes, I've been taking Yasmin for a long time now. My mom suggested maybe the symptoms I was having were related to my extended use of birth control, but I never thought it would have such an impact on me. Best of luck to you and your daughter!
